The fathers of Adam and Rosalie were the brothers Charles Leonard and Andre Lasseigne. This made Adam and Rosalie first cousins. Apparently, this did not prevent their marriage. It is not known at this writing whether they needed special permission from the church or civil authorities for their marriage.
Adam Lasseigne was born to Charles Leonard Lasseigne and Euphrosine Magdelaine Madere on August 20, 1813 in St. John the Baptist (Civil) Parish, LA. He was baptized in the parish church on Sep 18, 1813.
Rosalie Lasseigne was born to Andre Lasseigne and Marie Vicner on June 19, 1813 in St. John the Baptist (Civil) Parish, LA. She was baptized in the parish church on Sep 18, 1813.
Adam and Rosalie were married at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard, LA on Feb 12, 1835. Apparently, they had seven children. The names and birth dates of the two oldest were furnished by Dwayne Montz in his GEDCOM file. The names and approximate birth dates of the other five child were obtained from the census records. The information about their child and my father’s ancestor, Pierre Leo was obtained from Les Voyageurs.
The parents and children appear by name while they lived at home in the censuses of 1850, 1860, and 1870. Adam alone appears in the census of 1840 because only the name of the head of household is listed.
Rosalie died June 1, 1899 and Adam died November 25, 1906.
